Scheduled downtime for the 22nd of March

grid-data.man.ac.uk will be taken down on Wednesday the 22nd of March to investigate hardware failures in interconnects, and repartition the SAN. The work is expected to take the entire day.

Host Certificate on head node renewed

The host certificate on the head node has been renewed for one year.

Workshop: Introduction to e-Infrastructure: Enabling the Research of the Future

At present, only available to Manchester Staff.

The National e-Science Centre (NeSC) are running a two day workshop in Manchester on the 20th & 21st March, 2006. Day 1 is an Introduction to e-Infrastructure: Enabling the Research of the Future. Day 2 is an Induction to the National Grid Service. The provsional programme for the two day event is available here. The expectation is that people attending day 2 will have been on day 1. Day 2 will be hands on.

Globus Jobmanager changes to MPI redirection

In order to allow MPI redirection to work properly the /usr/local/vdt/vdt-1.2.1/globus/lib/perl/Globus/GRAM/JobManager/pbs.pm file was patched to escape the "<" operator in strings involving mpi commands.

Ant 1.6.5 deployed

The Apache Java build tool Ant 1.6.5 has been deployed on all nodes.

Java 1.5.0 Installed

The latest version of Sun's Java has been installed.

jdk1.5.0_02

Modules have been updated to allow use.

Subversion 1.2.1 Client Installed

At the request of a user Subversion 1.2.1 has been installed.

The package was installed from a pre-compiled binary linked of the main Subversion site.

SRB Training Course

Please note that there is a 2-day course on the SRB being run jointly by NIEeS, the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, and NeSC. It will be in Cambridge, on 10-11 January.

NGS Client Software Installation Course

A Client Install course will be running in Edinburgh, on 16-17 January.

It will take participants through the process of installing the client software that allows use of the NGS computation and data services.
